Following the instructions, do we always go through the trouble?

How many of us go through the trouble of reading the user agreement? And how many of us just click 'Agree' and go ahead with it? Well, I have to confess of being guilty of just jumping in. Not because I am lazy, not because I am so pressed for time but because it is often so much less fun than just doing things. Sometimes I wonder if we are spoilt by fun that when it comes to doing what might not be so much fun, we often neglect it or just wing it- just to get away from it and get it done on the surface at least.
I think my latest attempt at resin illustrates this attitude so well. I should be ashamed for this, but looking at what I produced, I decided to post it as a symbol. The story is simple. I wanted to experiment with resin and had this beautiful flower. So without much thinking I did a quick search, and then simply prepared my resin and put the flower in. That was a big mistake!
Now, I can tell you what many people who have worked with resin know already- using real flowers without any preparation will result in a fail. The chemicals will simply bleach the flower into this hideous result. Yes, I can still use it as a coaster, it is perfectly functional, but it is rather far from what I wanted to achieve. I should have dried the flower or stray resin on it, dry it and then put it in a coaster. My lesson is learnt, however is that all there is to it?

No, it simply represents my laziness to do due dilligence, to maybe spend that extra time carefully. I could, of course, redo the whole thing and present only the beautiful result, however this time I decided to show the fail. This lack of carefulness on my side resulting in waste, wasting the beautiful flower and had I decided to throw the coaster away, it would produce unnecessary waste.
The point I am making, that I wish to take this more seriously next time and maybe read that user agreement, to spend that little time extra researching, be more careful and reduce the waste I produce even if it means that I get to enjoy a little less, because it is worth it in the end. Next time I am posting not a fail but a success.
